Peace

Keep thy tongue from evil, and thy lips from speaking guile. Depart from evil, and do good; seek peace, and pursue it. The eyes of the Lord are upon the righteous, and His ears are open to their cry! Psalms 34:13-15

Seek peace and pursue it! Seek Peace...Pursue Peace. The word Peace is used in the Bible 420 times! The Psalmist in this is saying to "seek peace and pursue it". Why is the word "Peace" used so much in Gods book? Maybe it's because we serve a God of Peace.

Romans 15:33 Now the God of Peace be with you all. Amen
1 Corinthians 14:33 For God is not the author of confusion, but of Peace, as in all churches of the saints.

We all use the word "Peace" in our life's, but do we truly know what it is to have real peace? The kind of peace that the Word of God exhorts us to "seek and pursue". There are so many things in our daily life that, if we let them, will take our peace from us. So how do we get peace in such a suffering world? One Word...GOD. I have had many challenges in my own life. I have been abused, "physically, sexually, mentally", I have had financial difficulties, I have experienced close loved ones being alcoholics, drug addictions, etc. I have seen ones die. I have witnessed others severe suffering through the death of their loved ones. Through all of this I find that my peace comes only when I surrender it to God, and believe that God knows all about it, God cares, and God is working! Not only is He "working" in all of this, but for GOOD!

Romans 8:28 For we know that ALL things work together for GOOD, to them that Love God, to them who are called, according to His purpose.

If we truly believe in Gods Word, then we will be able to rest because we will know that regardless of the way things appear to be that God is using it for His good. But in order to be at peace with this we are going to have to make sure that WE are in Gods will. This scripture states that ALL things work together for good to them that LOVE GOD. How do we know that we are loving God. Well Gods Word says if you Love me, keep my commandments. John 14:15 and in John 14:23 it says- If a man love me,(Jesus) he will keep my words: and my Father will love him, and we will come unto him, and make our abode with him. So we show our Love to God bye keeping his commandments, His Words. The Holy Bible is the "Word" of God. We each need to read it and pray and ask God to reveal his Holy Word to us, to give us understanding so that we are able to do His will.

True Peace comes from living Gods way. If we choose our own way we wont be able to Rest in the assurance that it will all work for good because it's not Gods will. But, if we are saved, sanctified, and doing our best to live the way Gods word exhorts us to live, then we can fully rest and be at peace knowing that we serve an all knowing, all sufficient God who has promised us that "All things work together for good, to them who Love God". AMEN!
